Adelaide retirees snap up luxury apartments

Adelaide retirees snapped up 17 luxury apartments within the first week of Living Choice Australia’s release of its retirement village in Fullarton.

Living Choice ambassador and Gold Logie winner John Wood flew from Melbourne for the launch held over two days. Plans and prices were revealed to those on the Fullarton village’s database one day prior to the release to the public.

Jason Sack, General Manager Sales & Marketing, said they had been overwhelmed with the positive response. “Our sales team has been flat out meeting with clients who wish to reserve their preferred apartments. We have also received a large number of enquiries from potential residents who are looking for a new standard of retirement living in Adelaide.”

The upmarket village, comprising between 156 and 160 apartments, will be built on the old Julia Farr site at 103A Fisher Street. The apartments range from one-bedroom units to ultra luxurious three-bedroom penthouses, many with sweeping views of the city or Adelaide hills. Mr Sack said the two and three-bedroom, north-facing apartments had been especially popular.

Construction will start soon on a typical two-bedroom apartment onsite and will be open for viewing in January/February next year. Construction of the development, including leisure facilities, is scheduled to start in mid-2012, with completion anticipated in mid-2013.

The Adelaide-based company, owned by Adelaide-born entrepreneurs Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs, already owns and operates 7 retirement villages in NSW and QLD, but this is the company’s first foray into the South Australian retirement village market.

“In other parts of Australia, Living Choice has an excellent reputation for creating luxury villages in desirable locations and we look forward to bringing this standard of retirement living to Adelaide,” said Mr Sack.

He said the village would include 5-star facilites, including a dining room, bowling green, indoor heated pool, cinema, auditorium, wellness centre, hair and beauty salon, craft room, library and billiards room.
