September 2009:

Lifestyle on show at Glenhaven

Living Choice ambassador John Wood and National Operations Manager Christine Osgood present the winners of the Blokes Cooking Contest with their prizes (from left) Frank McDonald, Ernie Begg, Ron Lucas, John Murray and Keith McGill.Living Choice Glenhaven residents rolled out the red carpet for their Lifestyle Fair which formed part of the Hills Shire Council’s Orange Blossom Festival in September 2009. The weather was perfect, the gardens looked spectacular and everyone joined in the fun.

Judging by the amazing exhibition of arts and crafts on show, there certainly are some very talented people living at Living Choice Glenhaven! There were antique dolls, prams, teddies, exquisite jugs, paper tole pictures, paintings, a transport display, patchwork, woodwork, model aeroplanes, a wonderful photographic display and collection of cameras.

There were many enjoyable activities throughout the day, including line dancing, singing, water aerobics, bowls, snooker and a Blokes Cooking Contest. Living Choice ambassador John Wood taste-tested some delicious recipes and awarded the prizes. There was also keen competition for the $500 bowls shootout which was won by Mario Gerardi (1st) and Betty Chapman (2nd) as well as the snooker shootout with prizes going to Bill Herbert, Bob Burke, Bill Butts and Frank O’Dwyer.

Refreshments were sponsored by Living Choice and included a delicious morning tea served by the residents and a sausage sizzle prepared by the Hills Lions Club.

The Glenhaven line dancing troupe stepped out to much applause (back, from left) Val Thomas, Gloria McGregor, Maureen Burke, Janet Roese, Barbara Pettet and (front) Barbara Gurney, Jan Warren, Lynn Booth (teacher) and Karen Sgroi.A very proud Jack Stunnell arranged for four Humbers to be stationed at the front entrance for everyone to admire and members of the craft group sold a wide array of handmade items. Living Choice ambassador John Wood won the craft raffle and kindly donated his prize back, to be raffled again at the village’s Melbourne Cup event.

The proceeds from both the raffle and craft items were used to purchase wool and other items to enable the group to continue its charity work. The craft group supports many charities, including Father Chris Riley’s “Youth off the Streets”, St Vincent De Paul and the Salvation Army.
