4 July 2007:
Living Choice supports Seniors Superstar 2007
There were sequins, glitter and smiles all around at the open auditions for Senior Superstar 2007 on Wednesday 4 July 2007. With over 30 acts, the competition is shaping up to be bigger and better than before. The quest welcomed all types of performers and acts to showcase the talent of Sunshine Coast Seniors. The only rule…participants had to be 50-years-of-age or older.
Officially launched by Maroochy Mayor Joe Natoli and Gold Logie winner John Wood, who both agreed that the event was a terrific opportunity for seniors in our community to join in the fun as well as have the chance to show off their talents.
Apart from an array of singers there was also other entertainment on offer. Variety was high on the list with Klaus Hempfing and his Barrel Organ, The Tap – Katz who are an all girl tapping troupe, The Barbertones Quartet performed a harmonious version of “When I’m 64” and three acts that played harmonica. The Edelweiss Trio will return with their bell ringing and tuba playing as will The Waters Twins on piano and ukulele. The first band to enter the quest, JR Trio, also entertained, with the crowd clapping and swinging to their rhythms.
The prizes in the Senior Superstar competition reflect the quest's focus on 'fun' - they include hampers of goodies, dinner for two with a limo transfer, a three room carpet clean, shopping vouchers, movie passes, and flowers, with the eventual winner to receive the impressive Senior Superstar trophy.
Maroochy Council is pleased to provide funding towards the second Senior Superstar held on the Sunshine Coast and are proud to be supporters of the event along with Living Choice Retirement Villages, Department of Communities, ABC Coast FM and the Maroochy and Nambour RSL Clubs.
Residents of the Sunshine Coast are encouraged to come along to the upcoming heats to support and celebrate the senior talent within the local community.

Heat 2: Sunday 12 August at 2pm, Maroochy RSL Club.
