Living Choice Alloura Waters residents are a talented bunch – so much so that this year, they showcased their quilts, art, woodwork and craft to an appreciative public over three days.

Held over the second weekend in September, the Alloura Waters Quilt, Art & Craft Show, sponsored by Living Choice, attracted a big crowd. The show was the culmination of many months of planning, not to mention hours and hours of stitching, knitting, painting and crafting.

Alloura-Waters-Quilt-Fair-2Funds raised over the weekend are donated to charity and this year, more than $3,000 was raised for Parkinson’s research.

An army of helpers transformed the community centre into a welcoming display hall, decorated with stunning, brightly coloured quilts. Quilters from outside the village were also invited to display their works alongside those of residents.

Residents also took the opportunity to show off some other skills, including paintings, woodwork, knitting, crocheting, stuffed toys and wide range of handcrafted items. A highlight of the weekend was a raffle for a quilt which was kindly donated.

Of course a show such as this would not be complete without refreshments and visitors enjoyed a sausage sizzle, cakes, tea and coffee.
