More than 250 art lovers visited the annual Artastic Art Group’s annual exhibition held at the community centre at Living Choice Broadwater Court Waterfront Estate – and what a feast for the eyes it was! Eighty paintings and photographs were on display by members of the art group, which includes mostly Living Choice residents. Two residents from Living Choice Alloura Waters also exhibited their work. The standard was very high and many paintings were snapped up on the day.
There were also some interesting demonstrations, which were well-received, including tips on collage-making by Wendy Travers, “how to paint a sky with clouds” by Beth Miller and an art technique demonstration by leading artist Helen Davies. Helen also donated a superb framed painting of roses for the lucky draw, which was won by Broadwater Court resident Wendy Gardiner.
There was a raffle for the renowned print “Day of Rest” by A B Durand, known as the Father of 19th Century American Art, and this was won by Kath Harrod.
The exhibition marked the culmination of months of preparation by the Artastic Group and Beth paid tribute to them all for their hard work. She also thanked Living Choice for the donation of the Slimline Gallery Hanging System, saying it greatly enhanced the overall appearance of the art works and would make it easy to replace the current art in a revolving display.
