A 30-minute helicopter ride over the Central Coast was the “best birthday present” for Living Choice Deepwater Court resident, Barbara Coleman. To celebrate her 90th birthday, her son Gary suggested a helicopter trip and she loved the idea, taking off on a beautiful sunny day from Warnervale Aerodrome.

“It was absolutely beautiful, just gorgeous, and I could see for miles and miles,” said Barbara. “My son saw our village but I couldn’t recognise it from the air!”

Barbara is now hooked on helicopter flying and hopes to do another flight in the future. “I would like to go further afield, perhaps on a 60-minute flight, so that I can see the Sydney Harbour.”

Barbara was born in Huddersfield, UK in 1927 and came to Australia in 1965. She first lived at Willoughby then moved around until settling in Dundas, where she lived for 40 years. She moved into Deepwater Court in August 2015 because of the village’s proximity to the water. “It’s gorgeous – I could not have chosen better.”
