Book lovers in their element at Woodcroft
“Reading a good book is like dreaming with your eyes open and judging from the number of books in the returns box, we have a lot of dreamers in this village,” said village librarian, Alice Conway, at an event to showcase the new library at Living Choice Woodcroft.
Special guests included Living Choice’s ambassador, Keith Conlon OAM, and well-known journalist, Sandra Winter-Dewhirst, author of “A Royal Murder” and “Popeye”.
Alice said the new library was well-used and included thousands of books plus a growing DVD collection, all donated by residents and their families. In addition, large print books had been donated by the Woodcroft and Noarlunga Libraries.
“All excess books are donated to a local charity and sold to raise funds for research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.”
Sandra, a former State Director of the ABC, and Keith took part in an “armchair chat”, covering a wide range of topics, including local history. “They were brilliant – everyone was so impressed,” said Alice.
Following the talks, Sandra signed copies of her books and also donated two copies to the village library. Visitors also took the opportunity to view the display homes and sales consultant, Katherine Stacey said many had expressed strong interest in the homes available.
