The members of Those Girls Art Group at Living Choice Broadwater Court have been hard at work preparing for their art exhibition to be held on Saturday 24th October from 2pm to 5pm.

They will show both their and other artists’ works in the community centre at Waterfront Estate, Carrak Road, Kincumber and many will be available for purchase.

There will also be two demonstrations – one at 2.30pm by Helen Davies (The Rose Lady), who will demonstrate her amazing technique, and one at 3.30pm by Wendy Travers, who will reveal her method to produce exciting art using newspaper.

Visitors will be given a complimentary glass of champagne and resident pianist Vince Duffy will provide background music. There will also be two raffles for Helen Davies’ beautiful paintings.

Those Girls Art Group was formed by Waterfront Estate resident Beth Miller who studied at Massey and Auckland Universities as well as North Shore Teachers’ College. As the Head of Department at Kristin School in Albany, New Zealand, she taught both art and history of European art to students sitting their Year 12 external exams. When she retired she travelled with her husband Roger for five years, cycling and visiting galleries in Europe. Since returning, she has taken many commissions for art works and does not have to seek buyers.

The art group meets weekly on a Thursday from 9am to 12 noon and most of the members are residents, although the classes are open to the public too.
