The FITS Cycle Group at Living Choice Broadwater Court held its end-of-the-year breakfast at the Davistown RSL on Saturday 26 November. It attracted the biggest number of riders in the group’s history – 45 – and was also attended by the village manager, Jodie Shelley.
Co-ordinator Roger Miller said it was a lovely occasion with much hilarity and good spirit. “The group has grown from four riders in 2010, to almost 50 names in my computer. In that time we have had two trips to New Zealand, a trip to Canberra and also a ride on the East Gippsland Rail Trail, from Orbost to Bairnsdale, Victoria earlier this year,” said Roger.
Since the 3.4km walking/cycling trail opened between Broadwater Court and Alloura Waters, both cycling and walking have become more popular with residents, leading to increased fitness.
