Residents from Fullarton and Woodcroft competed in 17 different sports and activities at Living Choice Fullarton last week in an effort to win the Living Choice Directors’ Cup for their village. And while Fullarton clinched the trophy after two days of fun competition, the outnumbered Woodcroft residents certainly put up a valiant effort!

At the presentation ceremony, Living Choice ambassador, Keith Conlon OAM, praised everyone for “having a go and having some fun”, the aim of the inaugural Inter-Village Games organised by National Operations Manager, Christine Osgood, and her army of resident and staff helpers.

The events ranged from golf, tennis, bocce, billiards, darts, table tennis, bowls, scrabble and canasta to more unusual events such as horse shoe chucking, washer tossing, quoits and a Champagne Coin Toss. Residents also submitted a wide variety of paintings, craft items and cakes for judging by Lee Lelliott of the Country Women’s Association and artist, Ela Hardy.

A highlight of the games was the Blind Wine Tasting conducted by Living Choice Director, Graham Hobbs, who brought six renowned wines from his personal cellar for tasting by each village team comprising six experienced wine drinkers. The wines included Penfolds Grange, Penfolds St Henri, Clarendon Hills Grenache, Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet, Penfolds Bin 389 and Henschke Mount Edelstone.

Golf and tennis were played on Thursday and on Friday, after an opening ceremony that included a genuine Olympic torch, the leisure centre, bowling green and outdoor areas were filled with competitors battling it out in the various activities. They were well-fuelled throughout the day, enjoying cakes and treats baked by the residents, a lunchtime BBQ and hot snacks prior to the presentation of medallions and the coveted trophy.
