Let’s help get Claire to the Olympics in Tokyo!
This is Claire Arthur, a 23-year-old local ex Walford student who has been trampolining since she was eleven. She lives with her parents and brother Alexander in Hawthorn and is studying Physiotherapy at UniSA.
Her lifelong goal has been to represent Australia at the Olympic Games and she is currently a Trampoline National Squad and Team member and four-times and current Australian National Women’s Champion.
“Knowing I am among the world’s top athletes in my chosen sport is a humbling and special feeling and gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I hope to achieve great results and gain Olympic qualifying points.”
Claire regularly travels the world competing in international World Cup competitions. In each competition she is potentially awarded Olympic qualifying points for her results. When the Tokyo Olympics is held in July, Australia will send ONLY ONE MALE and/or ONE FEMALE who has accrued enough Olympic qualifying points. Without enough points, either or neither athlete will go. Therefore, Claire must go to ALL the international competitions in order to try for more points.
Since Claire was eight the funding has come from Mum and Dad, holiday jobs in sports coaching, recognition of her achievements by some small grants and money from the South Australian Sports Institute which helps finance gym and medical expenses. After all these years, the funds are running low! Therefore, Living Choice residents Sandra Maynard and Helen Bonet are putting on a Fundraiser to help fill the coffers. So let’s get Claire to Tokyo!
