Living Choice Fullarton in Fisher Street has been named one of six finalists in the Best Retirement Living Development category in the 2016 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards. The Fullarton development is the only South Australian retirement village to make the finals, joining three finalists from NSW and two from Victoria.

The awards program, now in its 34th year, celebrates Australia’s property development and investment industries. According to the Property Council’s Chief Executive, Ken Morrison, the awards underscore the property industry’s enduring commitment to leading-edge practices, and shine a spotlight on an industry that touches the lives of all Australians.

Jason Sack, General Manager Living Choice (SA & Sydney), said he was delighted that Living Choice Fullarton had been named a finalist. “Both the residents at this beautiful village, as well as the staff members, are thrilled that Fullarton has got the recognition it deserves. It is very rewarding for the Living Choice directors, designers and staff members who conceptualised what we consider to be the ‘new era in retirement living’.

“Living Choice Fullarton has also displayed great innovation in that it is fully integrated and has become an important community asset which is frequented by people of many ages. The restaurant Damien on Fisher has become very popular and the health and wellness services are well-utilised. Even students from the adjacent Concordia College are now using our bowling green during their PE lessons.”

Managing Director of Rider Levett Bucknall ACT, Mark Chappe, said a total of 136 finalists across 18 categories were up for awards this year.

“We are proud to present these awards, which shine a spotlight on Australia’s largest industry – an industry that generates 1.1 million jobs, and employs more people than the manufacturing and mining sectors combined,” he said.

National award winners will be announced at the 2016 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in Sydney on Friday 3 June 2016.
