Living Choice Fullarton residents, Neville Robinson, Jeff and Barb Rogers, teamed up with South Australian golf professional, Roger Stephens, to play in the Swanbury Penglase PGA Seniors’ Classic held at the Adelaide Shores Golf Club on 30th March.
Although they didn’t bring home any prizes they said they had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Roger, who is the golf professional at South Lakes Golf Club in Goolwa, shot a 5 over par 77, 9 shots behind the winner, Martin Pettigrew of New Zealand.
Living Choice sponsored the par 3, 5th hole, which was “manned” by Olga Bednarik, Living Choice Sales & Marketing Assistant, and Fullarton Resident Ambassador, Graham Short. They provided sandwiches and bottles of iced water and also gave out some Damien on Fisher restaurant vouchers. Living Choice also donated some wine for a nearest the pin prize. It is the third consecutive year that Living Choice has been involved in the tournament.
Organiser and Adelaide Shores golf pro, Pete Ormsby, said he was very appreciative of Living Choice’s support of the tournament, which forms part of the PGA Legends Tour. The Legends Tour is the professional circuit for professional golfers aged 50 and over and more than 70 tournaments are held in Australia and New Zealand each year. Former Major Championship winners, Wayne Grady, Ian Baker Finch (whose brother Lawrie lives at Living Choice Twin Waters), Rodger Davis, Peter Fowler and Peter Senior all feature regularly on the PGA Legends Tour. Both Peter Fowler and Rodger Davis played in the Adelaide Shores tournament.
“Living Choice’s sponsorship of the Swanbury Penglase tournament is appreciated by the Pros and it also raises much-needed funds for the Junior Golf Foundation,” said Pete.
Golfers who follow the professional circuit overseas would have heard the name Ormsby as Pete’s son, Wade, plays on the European Tour.
