Living Choice Twin Waters residents have donated a whopping $6,728 at a fundraiser to assist drought-stricken Australian farmers. Living Choice has added another $1,000 to boost the total to $7,728.

The fundraiser, held at the village on 23rd March, was organised by Living Choice residents Ian and Maree Lawson, who recently joined “Aussie Helpers” as volunteers after learning of the farmers’ plight on a television programme.

Ian and Maree have already driven thousands of kilometres through the outback, delivering hay for starving cattle and pamper and food packs for needy families. On their most recent trip – all the way up to Charters Towers – they were tasked with the job of assessing farmers’ needs so that the appropriate support could be delivered. They are planning their third trip in late April.

At the fundraiser, Ian spoke of their life-changing experiences and said they had been shocked to see first-hand how many farming families were struggling. He praised the work of Aussie Helpers and said their efforts were much appreciated by the farmers. He thanked fellow residents and Living Choice for their generous donations.
