Morning Tea in June Brings Community Together for a Worthy Cause

On June 19, 2024, the Twin Waters community gathered for a heartwarming morning tea, organised by residents Ian and Maree. The event, catered by the talented Thelma Richardson and her dedicated team, featured four captivating speakers and raised substantial support for The Shack, a local organisation aiding the homeless.

Dale, co-founder of The Shack, spoke alongside his daughter Imogen, a dedicated worker at the organisation. They were joined by Sadie, a long-term volunteer, and Aaron, a young man whose life has been transformed by The Shack’s support. Aaron shared his deeply moving story, describing how mental health struggles led him to homelessness and despair. Through the help of Dale, his wife Donna, and The Shack, Aaron found renewed hope and a reason to live, crediting them with saving his life.

The event also highlighted the generosity of Twin Waters residents, who contributed food products, cash, shopping vouchers, and clothing to support The Shack. The morning tea was an outstanding success, bolstered by the contributions from the craft ladies’ stall and a lively raffle. The craft stall raised $400, while the raffles and late donations brought in an additional $1,320. In total, the community raised an impressive $8,471.25 in cash, cheques, and food vouchers.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who participated and provided such extraordinary support. This generosity enables Dale and Donna at The Shack to continue their vital work, offering hope and assistance to the homeless on the Sunshine Coast.
