A 20-year trip down memory lane at
Twin Waters

Ten years ago, on 20th April 2013, the stirring sound of bagpipes, played by members of the Sunshine Coast Caledonian Pipes & Drums Band, rang out at the 10th Anniversary celebration of Living Choice Twin Waters. Fast forward ten years and the same pipe band, including four of the original band members, played a starring role at the 20th Anniversary held on 20th April 2023.

What was also remarkable was that many of the residents and staff members that attended the 10th Anniversary were present for the 20th Anniversary. First resident, Bobbie Scovell, who moved into the village with her late husband, Bill, in April 2003, could not attend due to ill-health, however another 2003 resident, Len Amiet, had a front row seat to enjoy all the festivities.

At the 10-year Anniversary, Living Choice directors, Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs, planted a time capsule and they were at the 20th Anniversary too, planting two time capsules, cutting the spectacular anniversary cake and reminiscing with residents about the history of the popular village, which has a lengthy waiting list.

Both Graham and Ian thanked the many volunteers who had contributed to the rich social, physical and cultural life of the village. Many of the resident activities were showcased on photo boards created by relatively new residents to the village, Patrick and Irena Donnelly. The extensive photo display was a highlight of the day, bringing back many happy memories for many residents as well as staff members.

While the 20th Anniversary was an opportunity for many residents and staff members to take a trip down memory lane, it was also validation for newer residents that they had joined a community which is vibrant, connected and, most importantly, caring.

As both directors said, while Living Choice had created the bricks and mortar and provided the framework for a financially sound and well-run village, it’s the residents that have woven all the threads together to create a beautiful tapestry of a village they can all be proud of.

Thank you: The 20th Anniversary celebration was the culmination of weeks of preparation by a group of residents and staff members led by Regional Marketing Manager, Tracey Dearing. A huge thank-you to everyone who ensured the day was so special. Special thanks to Robert Airs for his magnificent decorations, Patrick and Irena Donnelly for the photo display, the Maroochy North Shore Lions Club for the sausage sizzle, the `kitchen team’, led by Thelma Richardson, for the wonderful Morning Tea and the village staff members for all their assistance. The photos below will no doubt be part of the display for the 30th Anniversary!
