A day of celebration and pride at Kawana Island
The food was sizzling, the games were set, and the Aussie flag was flying high. Living Choice Kawana Island celebrated Australia Day in true fashion, with a beer in hand.
The Leisure Centre was filled with 77 proud residents. The tables were set with Australian flags as the residents wore their best patriotic outfits. There were Aussie hats, shirts, tattoos and, of course, several pairs of thongs. Everyone enjoyed a simple two-course Aussie lunch and afterwards the room erupted in laughter at those participating in the games.
As the games started the competition turned competitive. There were three types of games to compete in. Basketball hoop shots, kids’ skittles and croquet with a twist – the twist being hitting the ball through wine cartons and thongs in the true Aussie way. All winners received a $10 Banjo’s voucher.
The day was a huge success with everyone leaving with a smile. A big thank-you goes out to Michael and Carole Harrison and everyone who leant a helping hand.
