A day of “firsts” for Southern Group Vets
A number of “firsts” were notched up at the Southern Group Vets’ golf game sponsored by Living Choice at Victor Harbor on 9th January. In the first game of 2023, three new members were welcomed, one of whom scored a hole-in-one, making it the second month in a row that a hole-in-one has been achieved. It was also the first time that the group’s new Eftpos machines were used!
Dennis Ray, Secretary, said the weather was kind, the course was in excellent condition and the hospitality in the clubrooms was fantastic.
“New member, Garry Benson scored a hole-in-one on the 14th - an outstanding achievement in his first game. Well done Garry and I hope the prize of a dozen golf balls gets you more good fortune. We won’t mention your overall score!”
Dennis said this was the second time in a row that a player had scored a hole-in-one. “I don’t think this has ever happened before.”
At the prizegiving, Ross Rigby received the Life Member’s Award for best aggregate score over nine games in the past year. The next Southern Group Vets’ game will take place at McCracken on 13th February.
