Highgate Park Farewell

A Farewell to Highgate Park

On Sunday 24 March a farewell to Highgate Park event on the former Julia Farr Centre site was hosted by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Purple Orange Foundation.  As the soon to be new custodians, Living Choice and Opal HealthCare were invited to the event to share a glimpse into the proposed vision for Highgate Park.

The gathering saw many individuals, from former employees to residents and their families and friends, coming together to reconnect with familiar faces and reminisce about shared experiences. The event also provided attendees with an opportunity to peruse a historical timeline through photos and documents collected by the History Trust of South Australia.

Amidst the shared memories, the day was a celebration as former employee and Minister for Human Services, Nat Cook, gave tribute as people soaked up the sunshine and enjoyed a sausage sizzle on the lawns of Highgate Park.

It was great to be part of this Highgate Park event, with many attendees being interested in what the future will hold for the iconic building. We want to thank DHS and all who contributed to making this farewell memorable.
