A win for the Matildas – and a win for the Flagstaff Hill Quiz Night!
Events all over the country were delayed for the nail-biting extra time and penalty shootout between the Matildas and France on Saturday night. One of those events was the Flagstaff Hill Quiz Night. Living Choice resident, JUDY OATES, reports.
“What a wonderful night we had. Despite the space limitations of “The Hut” (temporary clubhouse), we had eight tables of six set up (consisting of Village residents, friends and golfers) ready to go at 7pm on Saturday 12th August. A sudden change of plans was brought about by the end of the Matildas vs France FIFA World Cup game and all present voted to delay the start to watch. Amid many cheers, all were very happy with the result!
Finally getting underway at 7.40pm, our very organised Quiz Hosts, Peter and Olga Habib, challenged us to four rounds of varied and interesting questions. Lucky door prizes were drawn throughout the evening and we had some individual and team games interspersed with the question rounds. We completed the competition with a Music Round which despite being aimed at the older generation, was won by the Golf Club’s younger team.
The winning team consisting of Kathy DeDear, David and Julie English, Lynda Millard, Anne Graham and Shirley Pearce took out the first prize of a $250 voucher for the Hub Tandoor.
Second prize of a $170 voucher at the Flagstaff Hotel went to Peggy and John Hirsch, Di and Richard Dix and Peter and Marilyn Jolley. We hope they enjoy dinner together.
