Adam Scott drops in for Living Choice Legends Pro Am
There was a surprise guest appearance at the two-day Living Choice Legends Pro Am played at Headland Golf Club on 13th and 14th December - and it added another layer of excitement to the star-studded field, which included 58 Professionals and 54 Amateurs.
Adam Scott, 2013 US Masters Champion, joined his friend, Jamie Holbrook of Property Today to play on Day 2, delighting fellow golfers and a small gallery of golf fans who dashed to the course when they heard the news. Adam showed great sportsmanship, stopping to pose for numerous photos as he completed 18 holes. For the record, he shot ten under par!
Adam also presented the Living Choice Australian Legends Tour Championship trophy to tournament winner, South Australian Jason Norris, who had rounds of 66 and 70 to win in a fine style with -8. Playing in his maiden Legends Tour season, Jason was three strokes ahead of Peter Fowler and Peter Lonard of NSW who tied for second place on -5. Popular Queensland Pro, Peter Senior, who played in the Living Choice team, was fourth with -4.
Other well-known Professionals who took part included Andre Stolz, who claimed the 2022 Order of Merit honours, John Senden, Paul Gow, Peter O’Malley, Peter Fowler, Terry Price and Wayne Riley.
One of the highlights at the prizegiving was the presentation of the coveted David Mercer Award to Sunshine Coast-based Professional, Glenn Joyner, who was intimately involved in arranging the tournament together with Adam Norlander and his team from Headland Golf Club.
After the first day’s play, there was a “sportsman’s dinner” hosted by golf professional and radio personality, Mark Allen, who took the opportunity to encourage Legends Tour players to be aware of the signs of bowel cancer. Mark has previously battled the disease, which has now become a battle for his great friend, Glenn. There was a well-deserved standing ovation for Glenn who was overcome with emotion when he received the award from John Senden.
