And the 2022 garden award winner is … Glenhaven!
For a record sixth year, Living Choice Glenhaven has won the top award for the Best Industrial, Commercial or Institution Garden at the 2022 Sydney Hills Garden Competition.
Many residents also excelled in various categories, earning seven first places, one third place, seven Highly Commended awards, five Commended awards and 13 Encouragement awards.
The Sydney Hills Garden Competition, which forms part of the Orange Blossom Festival, is run by the Rotary Club of Hills-Kellyville and the judging is done by leading horticulturalists and landscapers.
This year, the judges commented: “At Living Choice Glenhaven, there is consistent year-on-year improvement. Their standards are impressive after a challenging year juggling record rainfall and COVID-19. The plants in the new gardens are different, interesting and not just the stock standard plants you see everywhere else. There is also very good use of colour throughout the village’s garden beds.”
Regional Manager, Gail Eyres, said the Modern Outdoors gardening team led by Stephen Rosenbladh, had done an amazing job under difficult circumstances.
“We appointed Stephen and his team to look after the village gardens in June 2020 and we are very happy with their services. Our iconic “roundabout garden” at the entrance to the leisure centre, has elicited much praise from both residents and visitors. Similarly, many people have commented favourably on the beautiful entry to Stage 2. We are also very proud of the residents who create such beautiful gardens for everyone to enjoy,” she said.
Living Choice Glenhaven has been awarded first place in its category six times – in 2008, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. It also received Highly Commended awards in 2014, 2015 and 2018.
