Annual fundraiser raises $43,300 over 11 years
Cancer has touched the lives of many residents at Living Choice Twin Waters so it’s not surprising that the Cancer Council’s annual Biggest Morning Tea is so well-supported at the village. The fundraiser has raised a whopping $43, 361 over the past 11 years and is a real credit to the chief organisers, Thelma Richardson and Dorothy Blythe, both of whom have loved ones who have been affected by cancer. They were joined by a huge team of helpers to serve the Morning Tea and sell raffle tickets, plants and items at the “dollar stalls”.
Thelma paid tribute to the many generous residents and visitors who supported the event. “It just goes to show what a generous community we have here with so many residents donating their time, food, money, plants and items for the stalls.”
Thelma and her husband, Frank have raised funds for cancer research for many years, long before they moved into the village in June 2007. Thelma lost her dad to cancer 52 years ago and their daughter is a cancer survivor so it’s a cause very close to their hearts.
