May is proving to be the month for important milestones at Living Choice Woodcroft. On 6th May 2015, just six days after acquiring the ailing Fernleigh Gardens Retirement Estate, residents celebrated the birth of a new era for the village at a presentation and BBQ, where Living Choice directors and staff outlined the future plans for the village, including a multi-million dollar leisure centre, further villas and apartments.
One year later, on 5th May 2016, another major milestone was celebrated when the sod-turning ceremony for the leisure centre was held, followed by the official opening in February 2018.
The latest “May milestone” was the Grand Opening of the new village entrance on Friday 10th May. More than 250 residents, staff members and clients joined Onkaparinga Mayor Erin Thompson, village chairperson Alice Conway, general manager Jason Sack, village manager Gail Pounsett and Living Choice ambassador, Keith Conlon to cut the ribbon at the smart new entrance gates.
A time capsule, containing both historical and current photos, various documents, the village map, sales brochures and even the bar drinks menu, was also buried at the entrance to the gate and will be opened in ten years’ time.
Following the ceremony, everyone adjourned to the leisure centre to enjoy champers and orange juice, canapes, sweet treats and entertainment by the talented members of the “Rob’s Rascals” jazz band, including guest drummer Keith Conlon.
