Mitcham Felters present Luscious
Based at Gallery One, the Mitcham Felters is a group of around twenty like-minded women who are enthusiastic about using textiles as a medium for creating works of art and a range of everyday items. Felting is a very old art and craft form, but in recent years it has had a resurgence as an art form. Though wool is the base fibre used to create items, many other fibres are incorporated into the art works to give lustre and texture. A range of items will be exhibited to show the scope of what can be achieved in felting.
In March this year one of Micham Felters’ most prolific and experienced felters, Cherie Coppins, died very suddenly. This was a great shock and sadness to them, and as Cherie had suggested the name of this exhibition, it has been dedicated to her. Some of Cherie’s pieces will be displayed and available for purchase.
