Australia Day 2021 saw Living Choice Alloura Waters not only struggling with COVID-19 restrictions, but also an extreme burst of hot weather. The temperature hit the high 30s and to say it was warm would be an understatement - it was hot!
After a quiet 2020 due to the restrictions and only a few small events in the village, the Social Committee members were determined to put on a good show for Australia Day. It was decided that the event should be held outdoors to allow more people to come along and secondly, that we would hold a twilight event for the first time to avoid the main heat of the day.
Naturally the bar was open, the barbecue was hot, and the music was provided by the residents’ band. The acclaimed ‘Gunna Doers’ played a selection of oldies but goodies which soon had everyone’s toes tapping. Everyone settled down to a classic barbecue dinner, a drink and a lot of conversations and laughter.
Once the sun went down, the night was much cooler, and it was the perfect evening to spend outdoors. Gunna Doers performed another set while many stayed around enjoying the evening air, each other’s company and appreciating the best country in the world.
