Australia Day spirit shines at Flagstaff Hill
This year’s Australia Day was promoted nationally as a day when Australians come together in cities, suburbs and towns to reflect, respect and celebrate the strength and spirit of their local communities.
That spirit was certainly alive and well at Living Choice’s newest village where staff members hosted a breakfast BBQ for residents at Living Choice Flagstaff Hill.
The village does not have its own community facilities yet but that did not deter Village Manager, Frances Parolin from putting plans in place to hold an Australia Day event. Frances, Regional Manager, Katherine Stacey, sales and village staff member, Sue Lock, and Maintenance Manager, Stuart Sharplin, all gave up their public holiday to ensure the residents did not miss out.
Chairs were borrowed from sister village, Woodcroft, and set up on the lawn adjacent to the new `Range Apartments’ building.
Katherine said Stuart did a fantastic job on the BBQ, cooking bacon, sausages and eggs, served with fresh bread. Muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit, tea, coffee and orange juice were also available.
The event was well-supported with more than 50 residents attending. Take a bow, Frances, Katherine, Sue and Stuart, for helping to make Australia Day memorable at Flagstaff Hill.
