Biggest Morning Tea raises
$4,700 at Twin Waters
The generosity of the wonderful residents at Living Choice Twin Waters was evident on Friday 26th May when they dug deep in their pockets to support the annual Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser for The Cancer Council.
This event has been ongoing since 2008 and, in accordance with tradition, everything sold and consumed is contributed or donated by residents. Local businesses, residents and Living Choice also donated raffle prizes.
With an amazing turnout of over 100 residents and staff members, the Leisure Centre was the place to be to enjoy a delicious morning tea and browse the tables displaying the craft group's handmade wares.
Keen bidding in the time-honoured auction of the delicious and famous cream sponges, and a luxury quilted rug, added to the fun. Meanwhile, an ongoing silent auction was closely watched by those eager to win a round of golf for two, kindly donated by the Twin Waters Golf Club.
Finally, the mega raffle of 40 prizes enabled many winners to make their way home even happier after a wonderful morning.
The event has been held at Twin Waters for the past 16 years, raising a staggering $62,331 for The Cancer Council.
Many thanks to Thelma Richardson and her team of loyal volunteers who worked hard to arrange the event and serve the morning tea. A big thank-you to the many residents who donated items for the raffle and auction and also to the local businesses which willingly supported the appeal.
A special note of thanks to Robert Airs who displayed and ran a silent auction of his late sister’s jewellery. Most of all, thanks to the generous residents who turned out to support a good cause.
