Broadwater Court community gets together for worthy cause
As most of us know, the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that raises vital funds for those impacted by cancer.
This year, Living Choice Broadwater Court resident Elizabeth Butler and a team of helpers hosted a tea party in the Waterfront Community Centre.
The room was beautifully decorated in Cancer Council colours with a centre teapot on each table – but they were no ordinary teapots – each teapot had been altered to house a living plant, grown from offcuts from someone’s mother plant, inside it. As one of the prizes for the event, the person finding a blue tea pot card hidden under a random cushion at each table was able to take it home.
No morning tea is complete without a tiered plate of deliciousness and guests were spoilt for choice. Each serving was laden with triangle sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, sweet cakes and slices, fruit, muffins and macaroons.
The wonderful raffle prizes were put together by Resident KC, with one lucky resident receiving 6 bottles of wine.
Stellar effort from everyone involved and lovely to see all the proceeds raised going to Cancer Council.
