Celebrating 20 years of wonderful memories

It’s not every day your village has a significant birthday and Living Choice Kawana Island has now come out of the teen years and turned 20.

Village Manager Rusco Dunstan welcomed the many residents, guests and staff members to the 20th Anniversary celebration held at the Leisure Centre on Friday 16th June.

The proceedings started early in the day with entertainment provided by Lachlan and Harrison of the Queensland Police and Pipes Band. The talented men played some well-known songs and had everyone singing along for their 40-minute performance. Everyone enjoyed the interaction between songs.

Following the entertainment, morning tea was served with assorted sandwiches, wraps, quiches and slices along with tea and coffee. Residents had a chance to chat to each other about the photos that were shown on the projector from the previous 20 years and engage in conversations about their past memories.

There were also a few speeches with Group General Manager, Jason Sack, highlighting the diverse activities at the village, the events showcased throughout the years, and the rich social life of the village. QLD Regional Manager/National Procurement Manager, Tracy Blair, spoke about the history of the village and the memories that have been made.

One of the early residents, Wiera Nolan, also spoke about her time in the village and recalled stories of the early years. Residents’ Chairperson, David Thomas, thanked Living Choice for sponsoring the event and paid tribute to the residents for all they did to make the village such a happy place to live.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate the 20 years of the village and of course, a celebration wouldn’t be complete without a champagne toast to 20 years, and a slice of cake.

Thank you: The 20th Anniversary celebration was the culmination of weeks of preparation by Regional Marketing Manager, Tracey Dearing and her team. A huge thank-you to everyone who ensured the day was so special. Special thanks to the wonderful kitchen helpers led by Janne Bernhard, Maree Sutton for the 20th table centre pieces, and the village staff members for all their assistance.
