Creating history at Kawana Island
An important milestone was created at Living Choice Kawana Island on Friday 30th June when residents gathered to watch a time capsule being planted outside the leisure centre.
Residents were asked to contribute memorabilia to include in the capsule. Other items included past Resident Communiques, committee members’ names, USBs, stories of village groups, magazines, general village history - and not forgetting the famous Kawana Boyz calendar that was created in 2012 to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Standing outside at the ceremonial site at the bottom of the ramp, Village Manager, Russ Dunstan welcomed everyone, and Residents’ Chairperson, David Thomas said residents were proud to live at the village. David congratulated Living Choice and thanked Russ for the opportunity to have a time capsule.
Village Receptionist, Cathy Saunders was given the special task of laying the first soil over the capsule.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the capsule. We look forward to opening it in June 2033.
