Creative face mask creations at Alloura Waters

At Living Choice villages around the country, nimble-fingered residents who can sew are making face masks for fellow residents and the local community. One person who has been especially busy is Leonie Norman of Living Choice Alloura Waters, who has already made more than 100 face masks and has orders for plenty more!

The COVID-19 compliant face masks are being snapped up like hotcakes, including by village manager, Andy Dudney who purchased 16 masks in Living Choice blue for his staff members. Andy even arranged for the gold emblem to be added as an optional extra!

Leonie charges $5 for each mask which covers the material and elastic, plus a small donation to the Residents’ Fund. She obtained the instructions to make the face masks from both her material supplier and the village’s Registered Nurse, Trescha Knowles and also watched the instructional video on You Tube. She has patterns for both ladies and men’s sizes and uses a range of attractive material to suit everyone.

Andy said Leonie had been inundated with orders from residents. “She is a lovely lady and with orders currently sitting at over 200, she is going to be very busy.”

Leonie and her husband Norman have been happily settled at Living Choice Alloura Waters for the past seven years. They were due to visit Queensland to visit their grandchildren on the Gold Coast but following the border closure, it appears she will be spending her holiday making face masks instead!
