Walking Residents at LLG

Daily walk a highlight at Leisure Lea Gardens

Fresh air, exercise and the need to socially connect have become more important as the lockdown in NSW extends into its 8th week. At Leisure Lea Gardens, Village Manager Linda Savige, decided to encourage the residents to get out of their apartments by starting a daily walking group and it’s become very popular.

“Linda has been amazing,” said resident Connie Cameron. “She set up the walking group and joins us for our wanderings each morning. If she is not available, Steve Nolan, our incredible Maintenance Man, walks with us.”

Connie said all the staff members had “become like family” during the difficult lockdown period. “They are aware of our needs at this lonely time and they notice all the little things we don’t say, helping to relieve the tensions of the day.”

The residents walk through the village gardens, which have won many awards over the years. As Spring approaches, the gardens are looking more beautiful than ever, further adding to the enjoyment of the daily walk.
