Residents at Living Choice Deepwater Court enjoyed an entertaining visit from singers Sue Rowe and Doug Merrick, who call themselves “Silver and Gold”, on Sunday 4th June.
The dynamic duo has performed for many years in the entertainment world, collectively and individually as well. Doug was previously known as one of the three tenors and has entertained at many venues.
The inspirational singer is about to turn 80 years old and for those who don’t know, he is blind. This doesn’t hold him back from what he loves to do.
Resident Thea Brayshaw said, “He was wonderful! His voice has not left him at all and he was so lovely to listen to. Sue was equally wonderful and performed well alongside Doug. They have a lovely friendship and work well together.”
The Community Centre was decked out with silver and gold balloons with homegrown camellias from the Community Garden on display as the table centrepieces.
After the performance, the ladies catered with a delicious spread of sausage rolls, quiches, sandwiches and slices, along with scones with jam and cream.
