Flagstaff Hill residents share their stories
What is it really like to live at Living Choice Flagstaff Hill? Clients who attended the recent Ploughman’s Lunch gained some valuable insights from the residents already living there and, judging by the feedback received, they went home with a new understanding of the benefits of retirement village living.
Sales Manager, Katherine Stacey, said it was a terrific event with more than 50 people gathering to enjoy a wonderful lunch, prepared by Let’s Eat Catering, in a relaxed atmosphere. “I took the microphone and roamed around the room, asking residents to explain their journey to the village. It was so nice to hear the fabulous comments and afterwards they were so proud to show clients their own homes. Our director, Graham Hobbs, also popped in to say hello,” she said.
Guests were also introduced to Lesley Phillips, SA Home Care Case Manager, who outlined the home support services available at all Living Choice villages. They also met Sarah Fox, Living Choice’s SA Wellness Coordinator, who gave a thought-provoking talk on the need to rethink and talk differently about “older age”.
Sarah said the recent World Health Organisation campaign questioned the way in which everybody in later life was lumped into the category “old”, whether they were 60 or 100. Those at the lunch agreed they did not feel “old” and welcomed the idea that Living Choice’s Wellness Centres offered a wide range of services by highly trained practitioners who collaborated to ensure their clients were able to live life to the fullest.
Katherine said 11 villas were now completed at Living Choice Flagstaff Hill. “One Muirfield and two St Andrew villas are currently available and two Birkdale and two Troon villas are nearing completion. Good progress is also being made on The Range Apartments. The basement concrete piers are completed, the underfloor plumbing is in progress and block laying commenced on 7th June.”
