Four Glenhaven Kitchens Delivered to Taree in a Record-Breaking January
January has been a standout month for the Dural Men’s Shed, with four Glenhaven kitchens removed and delivered to Taree to support families rebuilding after last year’s floods. Achieving four kitchens in four weeks is a new Shed record!
This effort was strengthened by a new partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, who provided installers to fit the kitchens for residents identified by their team and Vinnies. Their support helped ensure the kitchens reached people most ready to take the next step in recovery.
This month’s deliveries also mark our 46th kitchen from Glenhaven over the past five years—many of which have been sent across NSW for disaster relief. As we edge closer to our 50th kitchen, we extend special thanks to longtime resident and Shed member Ted, who has painstakingly kept the official count and championed this community program. And of course, to Ted’s wife Jan, whose famous muffins reliably fuel the team after each removal!
Around ten Shed members come together for each job, usually completing a kitchen removal in just two hours. The teamwork, laughter and shared purpose continue to be invaluable to the men, and our delivery drivers—who have “been everywhere, man”—play a vital role in getting each kitchen safely to its new home.
For the people of Taree, these kitchens represent far more than cabinetry—they’re a symbol of hope and an important step in rebuilding lives deeply affected by the floods.
