Generosity abounds at Woodcroft’s Biggest Morning Tea
Take a bow, Jan Clements and her team of helpers at Living Choice Woodcroft! Last year’s Biggest Morning Tea at the village raised $733.50 – this year’s event, held on 30th May, raised a whopping $4,000!
More than 150 residents and visitors attended the Morning Tea to raise funds for the Cancer Council SA. It was bittersweet event with the happy chatter tempered by the knowledge that some residents had succumbed to cancer, while others were still fighting it. Many local business owners donated generously for the silent auction, door prizes and raffles, which included a gourmet hamper from Living Choice, a coffee machine from massage therapist Merilyn King, a magnum of wine from Lindsay Wine Estate, two gift packs from Chemmart, Woodcroft and a gift bag from Rita Dunlop. Residents also emptied their cupboards to provide a wide variety of bric-a-brac for the trading table.
The residents’ baking skills were also on display with a huge array of tempting cakes, slices and sandwiches donated for the Morning Tea. “It was a beautiful spread – the best I have ever seen,” said Jan.
A representative of Cancer Council SA, Nedge Sinanovski, gave a heart-warming talk about the work of the Cancer Council and how the funds would be used. Jan also thanked Living Choice, the many other sponsors, residents and her team of helpers for their support. “I’m so happy with the result that I’ve already committed to doing it all again next year!”
