Getting behind Cancer Council, Walk for Women’s Cancers
Living Choice Kawana Island resident, Sue Taylor, has taken up the Unite In Pink! challenge and will walk 18 kms, from Saturday 25th September to Friday 1st October 2021.
Over 1502 fundraisers are raising funds for lifesaving cancer research to end women’s cancers.
Walk for Women’s Cancers was founded in 2004 by Cassandra Munson. The idea was to give hope to Queensland women affected by cancer.
In previous years Walk for Women’s Cancers events have been held across 5 regional locations in Queensland, accommodating both 3km and 6km. However, this year Walk for Women’s Cancers will be held virtually across Queensland!
Sue, beautifully decked out in her pink walking garb with flower arrangements in her hair, started her challenge last Saturday and walked for 4.1km. We were delighted to learn that Sue attended Happy Hour straight after.
Sue explained that she walks a little bit every day and usually during the evening. She has walked various circuits including one at Point Cartwright where she saw a glimpse of a whale! So far Sue has clocked up 17.1kms.
The cause is close to Sue’s heart because she has sadly lost family members to various types of cancer.
It was a humbling moment when Sue realised that the community has gotten behind her and she has raised $300.00, and counting.
