Golfers shine at Glenview Par 3 Golf Course
There is something special about Living Choice Kawana Island and their resident golfers.
Bruce Biggs, Leo Howard and Tom Palmer maintain their healthy lifestyle by playing golf on a regular basis.
Every Thursday morning Bruce, Leo and Tom and approximately 20 golfers travel in the village bus to Glenview Par 3 Golf Course in Glenview. The Kawana Island Golf Group, which is organised by resident Doug Hoggan, prefer to play this nine-hole course and it is said that Bruce, Leo and Tom often surpass the other players on the scorecard.
Tom and Leo share a buggy, Bruce prefers to walk. They play Stapleford or Stroke, start at 7.00am, and finish at around 8.45am.
There is a presentation every Thursday, and all 3 players have won many monthly shirts over the years. Fellow golfer Darby Vitler says all three gentlemen hit the ball further than him, and they are amazing players.
What is so amazing about these golfers? Bruce, Leo and Tom are in their mid-90s and have only been playing for about 30 years, most taking up the sport in retirement.
They are truly dedicated to the game, displaying patience, thoughtfulness, and technique, all the while charming other players on the green.
And that’s not all, Bruce recently was a member of a 2nd placed Bowls team which competed at the Mooloolaba Bowls Club Corporate Village Challenge.
There is no stopping these gentlemen, and they prove that it is never too late to start believing in yourself and what you can do. Age has no barriers.
