Great turnout for Seniors’ Information Session at Twin Waters
An informative Seniors’ Information Session was held at Living Choice Twin Waters on 30th November, attracting both residents and members of the public keen to find out more about the services available for seniors.
Hosted by Wellways Carer Gateway and partnered with Living Choice Home Care, COTA Queensland, and Services Australia, the event assisted Sunshine Coast residents to understand the services available from each organisation.
Georgie Birch and Kelly de Visser of Carer Gateway explained how they can offer a range of free services and support for carers, and connect with various organisations such as Dementia Australia and Little Dreamers.
Paul Gabbert of COTA Queensland talked about the Aged Care System – how much support you can receive in the home, what Home Care Packages are on offer and your eligibility. He also talked about Home Assist Secure, which is only available in QLD, and how minor repairs and modifications can be provided to enable people to remain living in their own home.
Kylie Jones from Services Australia gave a step-by-step instructional presentation on how to connect your myGov, Medicare and vaccination certificates, and later assisted guests with their QR codes.
Dee Evans, Living Choice’s QLD Home Care Case Manager, followed up the presentations by inviting all 45 guests to afternoon tea and gave out door prizes. There were some very happy winners of fine chocolates and biscuits.
A big thank-you to our Twin Waters dream team ambassadors for their assistance with afternoon tea.
