Hundreds flock to annual Twin Waters Carols event

The annual Twin Waters Residents’ Association Christmas Carols event attracted a huge crowd this year with people of all ages enjoying well-loved Christmas carols, fireworks and the opportunity to win a ‘Monster Raffle’. The raffle offered prizes valued at a whopping $6,500 for one lucky winner – congratulations to Tony from The Grilled Gecko Café!

Held in the Wandiny Room at the Novotel Resort in Twin Waters on Sunday 15th December, hundreds of people turned up to support the popular community event. Once again, the Living Choice Woodworkers provided the spectacular Nativity scene and Living Choice donated a large Christmas hamper which was raffled to raise funds.

Fiona Simpson MP and local Councillor, Jason O’Pray, did a great job in compering the event and also showed off their singing skills. The talented members of the Sunshine Youth Orchestra provided the musical accompaniment and guest singers gave renditions of popular Christmas songs. `Miss Music’ got both young and old up to sing and dance and the charming young ‘Penelope Edler Dancers’ delighted with their performance of ‘Raymonda’.

Santa also put in an appearance, handing out lollies to dozens of excited children and the BBQ cooks from Bli Bli State School did a brisk trade at the food stall. Afterwards, with the approval of the Rural Fire Service, everyone enjoyed a low level fireworks display over the lagoon and many people were pleased to hear that proceeds from the event will go to the Rural Fire Service. Congratulations to TWRA on hosting yet another fabulous Carols event!
