Jan’s Personal Cancer Morning Tea Mission
For Living Choice Woodcroft resident, Jan Clements, this year’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will have a very special meaning as she hosts it in memory of a loved one lost. Jan registered to host her first morning tea last year for a very special reason—her close friend’s daughter had just been diagnosed with cancer and she wanted to do something to give back.
“It was a really horrible time. She survived only a few months and unfortunately passed away before we had a chance to host our event,” said Jan. “We only had three weeks to organise our morning tea last year because of everything that happened, so this year we want to make it bigger and better to honour her memory,” said Jan.
This year Jan will be joining with her fellow village residents to have a cuppa for a cause and support all those impacted by cancer in their local community.
“Since last year, I’ve seen so many people affected by this awful disease (including children), both in my church and in the retirement village where I live, which has made me even more determined to give back and make a difference.”
The event, which will be held at Living Choice Woodcroft, 177 Pimpala Road, Woodcroft on Thursday, 30 May will feature a trading table, silent auction, raffle and a morning tea.
“We’ve had fantastic support from Living Choice, who have donated a $200 gourmet hamper as the first prize for the raffle. A number of local businesses have also been willing to help out and have generously provided vouchers and gifts to show their support.”
This year, Jan is hoping to have more than 200 guests attend her morning tea, with the aim to raise $2,000 for Cancer Council SA.
“Cancer really is an awful disease which impacts so many people’s lives. I know that whatever money we raise will go towards those who need it most, which makes it even more important.” To RSVP for the event, see – www.livingchoice.com.au/biggest-morning-tea-woodcroft
