Kawana Island golfers head to Gunabul Homestead
By Jake Jacobsen
After four failed attempts since February 2022 due to rain, floods and COVID, 13 Living Choice Kawana Island residents enjoyed a golf day at Gunabul Homestead in Gympie on 1 August. Unfortunately, no lady golfers were able to attend – maybe next time. Looking very smart in their Living Choice shirts and caps, the group arrived to hot scones, tea and coffee before play commenced.
Light-hearted banter prevailed as groups teed off for nine holes before lunch. Weather conditions were ideal but the course still showed indications of the devastation caused by the March floods. During lunch the banter changed to sad tales of woes and embellished stories of master strokes.
Winners were declared on completion of play with the first three placings receiving a bottle of excellent wine donated by Living Choice. The outright winner with an impressive 44 Stableford points, and the only player to break handicap, was Bob Sande. Everyone wanted to know what pills he was taking to make him perform so well; they wanted some of the same. Taking second and third place were Peter Sawyer (36 points) and Bob Johnston (35 points).
A great day was had by all.
