Kawana Island kayakers back on the water

It’s great to see village activities resuming again in the wake of the Covid-19 restrictions lifting. Kayaking is one of the many sporting activities residents enjoy at Living Choice Kawana Island and resident Maree Sutton sent us these photos of the kayaking group making the most of the winter sunshine this week. It’s easy to understand why water-loving retirees have been attracted to this village thanks to the village’s own private floating pontoon and kayak launcher, making it easy for residents to enjoy the water that is on their doorstep!

There are many avid kayakers at Kawana Island including Sue Alcock, who is an instructor at the Suncoast Seniors’ Recreational Kayaking Club, a group of over 50’s who share a common interest in kayaking and operate around the water ways of the Sunshine Coast. Sue, along with other residents and club members, often launch their kayaks from the village’s pontoon and paddle up to Double Bay to have morning tea. Sue says having a private pontoon at the village is a huge bonus for her. “The best thing is that all Kawana Island residents can use it at their leisure to get out on the water, whether it be in their own kayaks or the village ones.”

We love seeing our residents back out and about, keeping fit and enjoying the beautiful lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast has to offer! Happy kayaking to Sue and all other Kawana Island residents.
