Ladies celebrate with Lavender ’n Lace at Kawana Island
By Tamara Laurence
It was a sea of purple at Living Choice Kawana Island earlier this month when a special “Remember your Mum Lavender ’n Lace Lunch” was held to celebrate all the amazing women that make up the village community.
Seventy-two ladies attended the special event which featured live entertainment and waiters, who all dressed up for the occasion – in matching lavender outfits of course!
On arrival, the ladies sipped Mimosas from flowered champagne flutes and nibbled on salmon blinis before being escorted to their tables for a sit-down, two-course lunch served in individual baskets and delivered by their attentive waiters.
While the champagne kept flowing, the ladies kicked up their heals to some classic songs like Nut Bush and YMCA and the lucky winners of the door prizes were announced.
Amongst all the fun and laughter, a number of mums and daughters came up and had their photo taken together to remember the special day.
Following the meal, the ladies enjoyed dessert as well as liqueur and chocolates before walking home with no need for a taxi or uber.
The day was only made possible with the hard work and dedication of a devoted group of village residents including Heather Preston, Elizabeth Male, Ronda Shoemark and Marlene Dundas who all decorated the auditorium and bistro, set tables and prepared the two-course lunch.
An honourable mention must also be made to the four ‘good sports’ and colour co-ordinated waiters - John Sutton, Wayne Male, David Thomas and Graeme Preston.
