Leisure Lea staff members rise to the challenge
The COVID-19 crisis has certainly challenged many industries, including the retirement living industry, and many staff members at Living Choice villages have had to take on new tasks in an effort to keep residents safe and comfortable.
At Leisure Lea Gardens, many residents visit the village’s on-site dining-room daily for their meals but with Government restrictions permitting take-aways only (and later allowing only a maximum of 10 to dine), the immediate challenge was to continue to serve residents meals in their own homes. Village manager Linda Savige soon arranged for a roster of staff members, including sales, administration, accounts and care staff, to assist chef Neil Senyenyake to deliver meals to residents. Some residents were also able to collect their meals, observing social distancing.
“The staff here have been incredible, always were, but they seem to have reached an even higher standard of service and nothing is too much effort,” said resident Connie Cameron. “Our village just goes from strength to strength and there will be time to bring everyone together and plan for the future, a future of happiness and togetherness.”
