Living Choice Galston breaks ground
A new chapter in the creation of Galston’s finest retirement community was celebrated on 3rd November when clients, staff members, consultants and suppliers gathered to celebrate the Ground-Breaking of Living Choice Galston. Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock AO and Cr Warren Waddell also attended.
In her welcome, Regional Manager, Gail Eyres, thanked everyone for their patience during the protracted approvals process. “I assure you the wait will be worth it,” she said.
Living Choice Director, Ian Tregoning, said the Ground-Breaking was a very exciting day for everyone. “The land we bought in early 2016 had approval for more homes, but what our design team has come up with is less homes (88) and a magnificent leisure centre that will tick all the boxes. This village is going to be a real asset to the community,” he added.
Mr Tregoning said the first slabs were scheduled to be poured in early 2023 and construction would then start on Stage 1, comprising 9 villas. "We have motivated sales and construction teams and we will be building the villas as quickly as possible.”
Fellow Director, Graham Hobbs OAM, said that while the built form was going to be fantastic, the sense of community and lifestyle at the village was even more important. He pointed out that no other retirement village operator of the same size had such a small ownership structure. “It’s just Ian and me and we’ve been in business together for 30 years. We get to know our residents and offer the personal touch.”
“Your life within the village is very important to us. I personally call all new residents and they give me really good feedback. Over the past 10 years of calling, no-one has expressed any regrets at moving in,” he said.
Living Choice Glenhaven resident, Anne Oliver, agreed. “We’ve never regretted the decision we made," she told the audience. "When we looked around at other villages, nothing compared. However, although Living Choice provides the beautiful premises, it's the residents that make the village. There are so many activities available and the lifestyle is wonderful,” she said.
Group General Manager, Jason Sack, said that due to the ever-increasing cost in building supplies, the villas would be priced at the time the slabs were poured. “We anticipate that the prices will be similar to those at our Glenhaven village, but we will meet the market at that time. I invite clients to register their interest now.”
After the speeches, everyone made their way to the Ground-Breaking site for photos to capture the historic occasion. A BBQ lunch was cooked by the Dural Men’s Shed members and a team from the Galston Deli was on hand to serve the salads. A big thank-you to local nursery, Plant Life, for supplying the beautiful plants.
