Living Choice Kawana Island Gunabul Homestead Golf Day

Jake Jacobsen Reports

On Monday 6 November, twelve Living Choice Kawana Island resident golfers and two guests travelled by village bus to Gunabul Homestead in Gympie for a round of golf and light lunch. Whilst driving north on the M1, our bus driver made the comment, with a sympathy-seeking tone, that he would be doing a lot of driving today – driving the bus, driving the golf buggy and driving the ball.

Gunabul Homestead has been sold recently and the new caretakers, Linda and Brad, welcomed us and offered tea and coffee before we attacked the fairways for nine holes before a “toastie” lunch break. All holes are par three with many surprises waiting to punish wayward shots. However, the lack of rain during the past months gave some relief as many of the water hazards were dry. Hard luck stories provided entertainment during lunch along with plentiful advice on how the game should be played.

The remaining nine holes were played after lunch and prizes, donated by Living Choice, were handed out to the talented high-scoring players. It was noted that our bus driver had the worst score of the day so he must have failed driving the ball as expertly as he drove the bus and buggy.

A very enjoyable day was had by all.
