Living Choice supports Legends Pro-Am at Mount Barker
The SParms PGA Legends Tour made its debut at Aston Hills Golf Club on 22nd March and Living Choice was a proud hole sponsor, taking the opportunity to promote its first Over 50s lifestyle resort, Living Choice Mount Barker.
The Pro-Am was hosted by the Australian PGA and was a Stroke event for Professional Golfers over the age of 50. It also gave Amateurs a chance to enjoy the experience of playing golf alongside a Pro.
The first Pro-Am to be held at the club in more than 30 years attracted a full field of 50 Professionals who were joined by 148 Amateurs for the morning and afternoon fields. The Living Choice team comprised three leading members of Flagstaff Hill Golf Club – where Living Choice is building a retirement village. Michael Cooper (Captain), Paul Shillabeer (Committee Member) and Chris Coulter (Club Manager) travelled to Mount Barker for an afternoon of golf, followed by dinner.
“Our golf was not crash hot,” said Chris, “however we loved the day and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and prize giving afterwards. It was so great meeting all those Pros who I admired when I was a junior golfer.”
There was a thrilling finish to the QUBE Logistics Legends Pro-Am with Peter Fowler of NSW and Euan Walters of Victoria sharing victory. Fowler had six birdies but made a double bogey at the par-4 16th to post four-under 66. However, Walters birdied the 17th and 18th holes to match his four-under total and tie for first place. Mark Boulton of Victoria finished in a tie for second with Jason Norris of QLD with three-under 67.
Such was the success of the day that Trent Blucher, President of Aston Hills Golf Club, told Living Choice that next year’s tournament had already been locked in. “It was a huge success – it was a fun day for the members, there was a positive response from the Pros and it was an opportunity for sponsors to showcase their businesses.”
The SParms PGA Legends Tour has now moved on to Murray Bridge Golf Club for the two-day $25,000 Spry Civil Constructions Legends Pro-Am. In total, there will be nine Legends events in South Australia this year. Many of the Legends competing have won on the Australian, European, Asian and US tours.
Living Choice is a long-time sponsor of both Professional and Amateur seniors’ golf and was the naming rights sponsor of the Headland Golf Club Pro-Am when the Legends Tour travelled to the Sunshine Coast in December last year.
