Master watercolourist delights at Fullarton

The last Art Expression @123 Fisher exhibition for the year is currently open at Living Choice Fullarton and it’s proving very popular. The exhibition showcases the work of Alan Louis Ramachandran, an award-winning master watercolourist.

The exhibition opening was attended by more than 140 art lovers and, according to organiser, Joan Ogden, it was a huge success. Alan, a tutor at the Adelaide Central School of Arts, also conducted a demonstration at the opening.

“The evening was a showcase of Alan’s creativity and artistic skills. Everyone watched spellbound as he demonstrated his process of conceptualisation of a well-known Port Adelaide site,” she said.

“Using a reference photo to plan his composition and do an initial quick sketch, he then used paint to make the piece his own construction. Alan demonstrated his techniques with different sized and shaped brushes, using water and paint intensity to allow his mental image to emerge.

“People were intrigued by the speed and confident flick of his brush to create moody skies, distinctive building features, people, umbrellas and shaded pavements. The light captured made the scene alive and the finished painting was sold quickly to an eager bidder,” Joan added.

The finger food prepared by Castello’s Cucina was a delicious tasting to accompany the bubbles sponsored by Living Choice. After the opening, 40 people stayed on for dinner.

The exhibition is open daily until 2nd December.
